The Great Indoors!
The first Camper Van - defined as "a vehicle designed specifically with amenities for camping" - was NOT made by Volkswagen.
The VW wasn't available until 1952, first as the Volkswagen Type 2 (Kombi/Microbus) before evolving into the iconic VW Camper Van, beloved of continent hopping families and 1960s Hippies and Surfer Dudes.
No, the first "camper van" / motor home, is credited as being The Pierce-Arrow Touring Landau, with folding back seat for a bed, cargo compartments for camping equipment and even an on-board toilet!
A lot of Camper Vans today are being created for personal requirements, giving the great outdoors a comfort never before known - and a lot of those have interiors protected by Direct Cladding using our wide range of colours.
